Car Noises 101

Your baby is trying to tell you something. But, what??

Here are some Car Noise Tips:

1. Does the noise "clank" when you hit a bump? could be exhaust, muffler or shocks and suspension
   
2. Does your car squeal when the engine gets turned off? Probably a belt
3. Is the squeal that is very high pitched? might be the radiator pressure cap
   
4. Is it a whistling? could be as simple as weatherstripping or a hose leaking
   
5. The noise is loud and irregular? likely a muffler problem
6. It is a constant ticking? we're going to need more information, but you could be using a low octane gasoline or you may need oil or an engine clean
   
7. Does it make it on curves, only? this might be tires or bearings
   
8. Does the noise come from behind you? probably exhaust or even the catalytic converter
